Frequently Asked Questions

Our main season runs from early February until the end of April, with March 1-April 20 being our peak season.

On average we heli ski 2-3 days per week.  The majority of our terrain is in the alpine, and requires stable, sunny weather for flying.  However, we have some limited, low elevation tree skiing which we can utilize.

We use Airbus AS350s, aka A-Stars.  We mainly operate the B2, but B3s are available for our private helicopter clients when requested.

Every helicopter trip and package with Alaska Powder Descents includes a guaranteed number of runs – which is a huge benefit to our customers.  If you aren’t able to ski your guaranteed runs do a covered reason (ex: poor weather), you are eligible to receive a refund!  Please see our policies page for the fine print.

APD is a small, boutique operation which allows us to provide highly personalized service, without luxury price.  Our helicopters are based in Juneau, which provides significant cost savings that we pass on to our customers (we have the lowest prices in the State).  It also allows us to guarantee runs, which significantly reduces the financial risk of booking a heli ski trip to Alaska.
