Juneau Community Picnic (with a Heli-drop)

It might be after the season, but a sunny-in-the-70s day in Alaska is not to be missed. Twenty-six grownups and four kids grabbed skins, skis and boards for the traditional spring Sheep Mountain Drop, organized this year by Bill Glude of Alaska Avalanche Center, www.akavalanches.com. This year, the snow led out to Granite Creek/Perseverance Trail. Thanks to Coastal Helicopters, www.coastalhelicopters.com.
